Let the image of Langebaan lagoon bedazzle you while enjoying one of Wunderbar’s many tropical libations—from Naughty Namaqua to Cookie Monster and Hakuna Matata. Or go healthy with an array of raw juices. And while you’re at it, you might as well have a light meal.
Eggs Benedict fans, look no further. Every bite caresses in their version of a fluffy English muffin topped with a choice of bacon or salmon, poached eggs and tons of hollandaise sauce. The open omelette is a jolly decent portion – what with bacon, boerie, cheese and peppadews co-mingling shamelessly.
But the Flammkuchen beckon. It’s a specialty – all the way from south Germany. A thinly rolled out crispy bread dough base is topped with crème fraiche, onions and garnishes of choice. Served with heart, the Lovemeat option has the massive flavours of feta, peppadew, mushrooms, bacon, chicken and cheddar cheese.
My oh my, the burgers are good. The chef also isn’t shy with the sauces on offer. A huge Camembert burger is dressed with ruby-red berry sauce. The bun is crisp, the chips crackle and the salad is generous. For added oomph, you can add a creamy mushroom/cheese/chilli mayo sauce.
This satisfying cooking ends rather well with accomplished pancakes capped with a banana-chocolate sauce the colour of molasses.
Sadly, when all’s done, one parts with a heavy heart from the wunderbar views.
