Capaia One 2020

Award-winning Capaia One 2020 is a match made in heaven with beef, lamb, venison and mushrooms. Deep garnet in colour, rich toasty aromas of dark fruit and leather lead into a dry and layered palate that slides into dried prune and plum on the aftertaste. Grainy tannins elevate the rich finish.

This wine brings out the best South Africa has to offer. Little wonder then that it won Double Gold in the 2022 Gilbert & Gaillard awards with a score of 92. And although it was made to age for 10 years, Capaia One 2020 is ever so drinkable right now.

Winemakers Stephan von Neipperg, Bernabé Strydom and Stephan Potgieter collaborated in making this audacious and fragrant wine with 30% Petit Verdot, 30% Shiraz, 28% Cabernet Sauvignon and 12% Cabernet Franc.

Savour Capaia’s fine wines in the sumptuous restaurant foyer or on the stoep overlooking 60 hectares under vine on the 140-hectare estate. It’s also worthwhile to go for an eye-opening cellar tour. Viewing the biggest cask collection in the southern hemisphere is particularly impressive.
