Whether you are or aren’t ‘to the manor born’, Paternoster Manor simply is IT for an opulent seaside stay. Graded four stars, this Bed and Breakfast accommodation has an exceptional approach to service and management – thanks to owners Ross and Matt McLean. Which is probably why it deservedly won the Lilizela Tourism Service Top Excellence award in 2018.

A haven for relaxation with serious luxury hotel cred, the manor sits snugly in the Bek Bay cove at 7 Sonkwas Road. Elegantly chic furnishings and eye-catching artworks in the living and dining areas set the bar high. And you’re spoilt for choice with the three luxurious suites, deluxe double room and two self-catering options. All are done up in striking individual themes which are so inviting you may forget the beach is a stone’s throw away.

But it’s the breakfasts (inside or al fresco) that are the biggest triumph here and a special hats off to the devilish French toast, which simply begs for more. After the extensive breakfast experience, you can work out the kinks in the pool.

Paternoster itself gives you room to roam, with miles of glorious beaches for watersport, biking or hiking; many nooks and crannies at Cape Columbine and Tietiesbaai for leisurely picnics; and a calm bay for kayaking. Not forgetting the divine restaurants scattered throughout the village where Cape Town’s beau monde congregates.
