Shelley Point Kayak

They say open water is a highway to adventure best travelled by kayak. Well, it’s hard to beat the sunrise or sunset adventure kayaking trips offered by Shelley Point Kayak in St Helena Bay. But any time of the day will also do.

Subject to weather conditions, Billy Fisher and his experienced guides offer 2-hour trips packed with remarkable sights. Departing from Shelley Point beach, you’ll head to the lighthouse where you’re bound to see frolicking dolphins. Then continue onto Bird Rock Island with its prolific bird life and seals. In shallow parts, you might also encounter some aquatic life. Meanwhile, Billy takes dozens of photos, which are then sent as mementos to each kayaker.

Everyone is welcome on the trips – from age 3 to 100 (canines too!). Life jackets are supplied and groups of up to 22 people can be accommodated.

Because the duel fibreglass kayaks with their rudders are so high-tech, they’re a cinch to paddle for people of all fitness levels. And rest assured, Billy is a qualified team leader while all the other guides were trained by the South African Marine Safety Authority.
