Archery certainly brings with it a dash of nobility. One of the oldest arts, this centuries-old sport can be enjoyed right here on the West Coast.

If you were/are a fan of The Lord of the Rings and The Hunger Games, you already know that this pursuit is pretty cool. Symbolising control, precision, self-reliance and patience – qualities that have resonated in heroic characters for millennia – archery can be practised by young and old. In fact, it’s highly recommended for injury rehab too.

Thali Thali, which borders the West Coast National Park and Langebaan, offers lessons for novices with accredited coaches. Use your own equipment, or rent from the on-site shop.

However, it’s the bow-fit pros who’ll be knocked for a loop by the rousing 3D course. Simulating an African bush hunt with a bow and arrow, 23 life-sized rubber animal targets are scattered throughout the area. Talk about an adrenalin rush!

So if you fancy yourself as an undiscovered Katniss or Robin Hood who can beat the bullseye, head on over to Thali Thali. After a gruelling session with the bow and arrow, resuscitate yourselves at the onsite bar and restaurant.
