From milking shed to restaurant, De Palm sure has transformed from its humble utilitarian beginnings. These days it’s all about enjoying good food and drinks overlooking a fine ocean scene. Kids have the bonus of a ‘genuine’ pirate boat to play in.
Situated at De Palm Lifestyle Centre, 8 Shearwater Street in St Helena Bay, the restaurant boasts two TripAdvisor certificates of excellence. Popular dishes are the rib and calamari combo, the seafood platter and creamy garlic mussels. The menu also includes the almost compulsory steaks, burgers, fish n chips and pizzas.
If booked in advance, diners can select their seating of choice: enjoying the views from either the patio or covered stoep, or in the restaurant itself. Apart from wines, beers and spirits, the pub next door makes mean signature cocktails such as the St Helena Sunset, the Pink Palm, the Blue Palm and Rooibos Long Island.
While the pub and stoep cater for sport nuts on big screens, the ambience in the restaurant itself is more sedate.
Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner on Fridays and Saturdays, plus breakfast and lunch on Sundays, manager Joan Tiffink will ensure that your experience is everything you’d hoped for. To book, phone 071 3063582.
