
It’s difficult not to blimp out at Die Hut’s legendary Sunday buffets. At R160 per person, driving the 92 km from Blouberg is just so worth it.
Have either a seafood dish or one of the soups to start. Then gourmandise on kaboemielies, onion and tomato relish, sweet potato, green bean stew, fried potato, crispy vegetables, chicken pie, curry tripe, lamb shank stew, roast leg of lamb, fried sirloin, smoked pork neck, gravy and salad. However, take it easy, because the expansive dessert offering shouldn’t be missed.
The venue, set amid lush green lawns overlooking an olive grove, is lovely. Friendly farm animals underscore the pastoral tone. What’s more, you may select your preferred ambience: the poolside braailapa, the cozy restaurant, a deck overlooking orchards or the intimate ladies bar.
Located in Ford Reservoir Street on the farm Ebenhaezer in Moorreesburg, charismatic owners Jaco and Sharón Hanekom also offer an à la carte menu from Monday to Friday, 19h00 – 22h00. In addition to home-cooked dishes such as eisbein and pork/lamb chops, the choices include steaks, salad, seafood, burgers, chicken and pizza. But, it’s the signature pizza steak that shines. Lauded by all and sundry, this certainly is a must-try.
