Housed in a former heritage fish house from the early 1900s, Black Eagle Brewing Company is where history meets hops. Set in the heart of Langebaan, this brewery has made it its mission to serve up classic styles with a twist—and a wink.
First up: Weskus Brekfis, a Belgian witbier that believes breakfast is a state of mind. Brewed with fruit and spices, it’s aromatic, gently complex and just cheeky enough to make you consider replacing your morning juice with something a little more… grown-up. It’s perfect with smoked salmon on toast, fluffy omelettes or a flaky croissant. Brunch just got a promotion.
Next, Moedersmelk: a sweet stout that grinningly leans into comfort. Dark, round and slightly roasty with a pleasing sweetness, it’s the liquid equivalent of a West Coast hug. Expect chocolatey notes, a soft finish and a lingering “just one more sip” effect. Pair it with chocolate brownies, malva pudding or a rich braised lamb dish. It also gets along famously with late-night conversations.
Finally, Fisker, a fine Belgian pale ale. Copper-coloured and charming, it’s fruity, malty and sufficiently spicy to keep things interesting. This is a sociable, easy-drinking ale that goes down a treat with grilled line fish, prawn tacos or a snoek braai. Santé!
Pop in and prepare for a tasting that’s as spirited as it’s notable.
